Kid Web Safety
Kids Privacy Statment and Internet Safety
Hey Kids, the internet is a public place. Just like a park playground or a shopping mall. You need to use the same kind of safety rules when you are on the internet and visiting websites. Here are some of the rules you should always remember and follow:
- Ask your parent’s or guardian’s permission to go on the internet and let them know what websites you are going to visit. Just like you would ask them for permission to go to play at the park or a friends house.
- Just as you would never talk to strangers at a public place, never chat with strangers on the internet.
- Never give out personal information, such as your full name, age, address, phone number or school. Your password should be kept a secret. Never give out your password, except to your parent or guardian.
- Whenever using any Internet site, if someone writes something mean or asks you for personal information, stop and tell your parent or guardian immediately.
- Do not use your full name, age, or hometown when creating your username.
- Remember, the internet is a public place. If you want something to be kept private, don't post it online. The Internet is available to anyone.
- If you're ever not sure that something on a website is not safe or you don’t understand it, stop immediately and tell your parent or guardian.
- Remember, following safety rules isn’t just for riding your bike in the street or visiting the mall with your friends. Safety rules and common sense should always be used on the internet too! If you're ever concerned about anything, stop immediately and tell your parent or guardian.
